The I.TRAS.TE. project (Innovation and Technology Transfer) has the objective to create innovative companies to reinforce and render more dynamic the Umbrian economic environment, by introducing a knowledge based logic within a territory that is mainly oriented towards traditional and mature sectors. In particular, the need to exploit the knowledge production of a University as important as the one of Perugia is clearly perceived, in addition to the existing possibilities within the research centres and medium-big size companies. The selection of companies, in order to produce lasting results, is characterized by a “market driven” logic that puts the market knowledge at the centre of the analysis process, immediately followed by the peculiarities of the proponent team.
The incubation/acceleration system of I.TRAS.TE is focused on two core entities of Perugia, at the University, and Terni, at META Group, able to guarantee a continuous flow of information and services among the levels and within each level.
The project is placed downstream of the path related to the “valorisation of the knowledge results”, through the creation and the support in launch phase of the spin off, that the University of Perugia, in collaboration with META Group and other local stakeholders, has started from the 90s. This fruitful cooperation has led, among other things, to the creation of financing tools of risk capital dedicated to the innovative companies, to the participation on these themes to European networks on innovation, to the straight collaboration with the other research centres in Umbria and to the dialogue with the medium size and big companies.
