Jeremie Malta

JEREMIE, Joint European REsources for MIcro to medium Enterprises is one of the tools created by the European Commission to improve access to finance for SMEs.
As a feasibility study for a JEREMIE operation in the Country, an assessment of the financial gap for SMEs in Malta has been carried out in cooperation with the EIB’s European Investment Fund.
 
EIB and the Maltese Government have been provided with:
  • An evaluation of existing SMEs finance, through a demand and supply analysis;
  • A diagnosis of the main SMEs financing gaps and priorities for action;
  • The design of financial engineering instruments suitable to ensure an easier and more effective access to finance to SMEs through the implementation of JEREMIE;
  • Comments, suggestions and guidelines for current and future actions in favour of SMEs financing funded through National and Structural Funds in Malta.
